Dr Jessica Locker

For 7 years I have helped students to their best grades. Many have gone on to study at a top universities, including reading medicine at Oxford. I have developed a work system to help students improve their grades, including presentations, online tests and past exam papers. I have a real focus on exam technique e.g. highlighting keywords required to get the marks, and expanding their application of knowledge (required in order to get the higher grades). My work package also aims to improve the student's data handling skills, giving them confidence in the maths required in biology lessons.
 

Biology and science should be fun. I enjoy introducing expanded knowledge by engaging in general conversation about common, related subjects in the news and media.

I have a PhD in Synthetic Biology from University of Nottingham, a degree in Biomedical Sciences, and MSc in Bioscience Technology. I now work as a lecturer in Biomedical Science at De Montfort University. I hold a Fellowship of the HEA, which is awarded to certified teaching and learning professionals in higher education. I was previously a researcher for a pharmaceutical company at the University of Manchester and have worked in multiple biology related fields, so I can offer a useful insight for anyone wishing to pursue a career in this area.
